Abigail Jaye: Madonna Was Perfect for Evita

Abigail Jaye is currently starring as Argentina’s most iconic first lady, Eva Peron, in the UK and European tour of Evita.
Abigail’s credits include the Churchill Theatre Production of Dr Dolittle as Emma Fairfax, playing opposite Tommy Steele, Isabel in Scrooge at the London Palladium with Tommy Steele and Narrator in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the New London Theatre, West End.
She’s been touring across Europe for almost 18 months now but took some time to share her views on Madonna’s version of Evita.
She said…

“The Madonna aspect is different because the film is so completely different from what we do on stage.
She was perfect for it, though.
I didn’t watch the film when I took the role and hadn’t seen it for many years.
I didn’t want to steal anything that she did.
But it is daunting with some of the bigger stars of musical theatre having done it, like Elaine Paige and Julie Covington.”
